5K Number 5… Feeling Great!
I was pretty frustrated with my pace after yesterday’s run. I had a ton of support and encouragement from the HWP Team and I was super excited to see my results today. I paid close attention to what I was doing today, as compared to the previous day, and made adjustments and I saw the difference. My First Big Race, Fifth Third Riverbank Run
Today wasn’t my 1st race but it was the first big race with a lot of excitement and energy. I had the pleasure of running with a HWI Team Daybreak member, Scott Woody. We finished in excellent time given it was a first 10k race for both of us. I know that today was nothing compared to the experience of the Grand Rapids marathon with the full Daybreak crew. I had such an awesome time, and the feeling of accomplishment and energy as we came into the finish was unlike anything I’ve experienced before. Being Prepared For Parenting
As much as I’d like to think that I was ready to parent the fact is that I owe a lot to my wife. If it wasn’t for my wife’s knowledge and experience my kids wouldn’t have had the experiences they have had so far. I’m still learning everyday day how to be a better parent.
11 Frosty Beard Miles
Today marks the last of my longer training runs as the taper begins before marathon day. The temp this morning was in the high teens which resulted in a pretty frosty beard. I ended up pushing things a little harder than the training plan called for, but I was trying to make it back home at a decent time. I ended up a bit slower the second half because I pushed things a bit harder than I should have, but that’s just the way it goes. Cool And Comfortable 14 Mile Training Run
Had a nice cool 14 mile run this morning. It’s amazing how much cooler temperatures make a difference in how you feel on the longer runs. Felt great all the way to the end. It was a bit shorter run than last week of course. Loved seeing everyone out for the group run this morning.
